   A Turkish fisherman collects in his fishing nets a piano that was at the bottom of the sea. With it, the specter of Mathilda Segalescu, a Jewish singer who's boarded the Struma, the last ship to leave Romania towards the Promised Land carrying in its bulge more than 800 Jews fleeing Nazism during World War II. Upon arriving in Turkey, the country refused its mooring for refueling, leaving the ship adrift until it was sunk by Russian attacks. The fisherman falls in love with the artist's ghost and becomes obsessed with approaching her until he realizes that the only way to do this would be through his own death.

Read more A contemporary Opera, by composer and director Jocy de Oliveira, who proposes to bring a fresh approach to an Opera performance coposing the play as an 80 minute Feature Film that will present the story of Mathilda Segalescu, a Jewish musician and singer, who boards the STRUMA, the last ship to leave her home country of Romenia in search of a safe harbour for Jewish refugees running from WW II's Nazi prosecution and ends up drowning with other 800 refugees when the ship is sunk in the cold waters of the Black Sea. Years latter, a Turkish fisherman pulls out her piano from the bottom of the ocean and, with it, comes Mathilda's soul and music for which the rough muslim fisherman falls terminally in love with.
